WYCKOFF, N.J. — Paulette Laurenzi of Mahwah wanted her Wyckoff store, Spring Lake Toys, to be a place of joy.

Laurenzi opened the toy store more than four years ago to sell a wide variety of fun items at the Everett Avenue location.

In the past two years she held around 75 different fundraisers for a number of causes.

"It's time for me to give back to the community and I have a great time with it," Laurenzi told Daily Voice. "It's very rewarding."

Her latest fundraiser, a toy trunk show, will be held Saturday, March 12. Proceeds from toy sales that day will go toward a 4-month-old with a seizure disorder and 15-month-old with pediatric cancer.

On March 15 there will be a similar fundraiser that will benefit Mahwah Cub Scout Pack 197.

Laurenzi spent 21 years working in banking before moving to toys. Her inventory includes arts and crafts, plush dolls, science toys and more. She also tries to keep up with trendy toys.

"I'm like the kid in the candy shop," she said. "I go and I have a great time."

Spring Lake Toys shares its space with All is Well Boutique, which has a similar philanthropic mission.
